SCENAR boosts children's immunity - a Slovak doctor explains how it works
Every autumn, parents face the same challenge. How to protect children from infections, how to strengthen their immunity, how to help them when they're already sick, and how to get through it all. We search for information and try everything we can, but illnesses always come anyway. The solution may be SCENAR therapy - little known in Slovakia, but relatively common in Austria. What it is and how it works is explained by internal medicine physician Natália Sabová, who founded the first Slovak Scenar clinic in Bratislava.
SCENAR is a certified medical device originally developed for treating cosmonauts. The small device, which looks like an electronic thermometer, can work literal wonders. "It operates on the principle of modern electrotherapy, which stimulates the nervous system and triggers the body's self-healing processes. It is a so-called neuro-immunoadaptive method (stimulating the nervous and immune systems) that works without medication and without side effects," explains internal medicine physician MUDr. Natália Sabová, who brought this method to Slovakia more than twenty years ago.
The SCENAR device sends gentle electrical impulses into the skin. Precisely because these impulses are similar to those the brain itself uses to communicate with the rest of the body, the organism responds well to them and initiates regeneration of tissues and organs, as well as natural bodily processes - including the immune response.
"A runny nose, cough, or fever are forms of immune response that we don't want to suppress. On the contrary, our goal is to support the body so it can safely manage them, heal itself, and become stronger," explains the doctor.
SCENAR is particularly suitable for children, but also for adults, and is helpful for practically any illness. Young patients respond to it best of all. "It is most effective in the acute phase, right at the onset of illness, and can be used instead of medication to reduce fever or pain," adds Natália Sabová.
Also for chronic conditions
Patients come to MUDr. Natália Sabová's clinic with a wide range of issues - from common colds and injuries to chronic conditions such as post-COVID or genetic disorders. A large portion of patients are young children with genetic syndromes or developmental delays - SCENAR can support the functioning of individual body systems. Treatment is preceded by thorough diagnostics, a review of the patient's medical history, and an in-depth consultation.
Teodor came to the clinic with a diagnosis of developmental delay. At two years old, the boy couldn't sit up or walk on his own, and the prognosis was not encouraging. "For the first two years, we tried various treatments, and progress was very slow," recalls his mother, Klaudia Hegyi.
Then they discovered the SCENAR method, which they now consider miraculous. "Our first visit to the clinic surprised us in every way - the extraordinary diagnostics, the warm and caring approach, and the professional, high-quality treatment. Our little boy was literally coming alive before our eyes, changing after every session," she continues.
Teodor is now 5 years old. He can do a great many things independently, walk on his own, is beginning to talk, and everything about his development suggests a full recovery lies ahead.
Behind every doctor is a story
MUDr. Natália Sabová came to SCENAR as a conventional internist when her 3-year-old daughter suffered from chronic kidney inflammation and conventional treatment wasn't working. After several SCENAR sessions, her daughter's clinical picture improved, until she eventually made a full recovery. Since then, Natália Sabová has stayed with this method, and in 2020 she founded her own holistic medicine clinic in Bratislava. The clinic is staffed by two doctors and eight therapists. To date, the doctor counts hundreds of treated patients with a wide variety of conditions.
The SCENAR method is less well known only in Slovakia - abroad, it has been in use for decades, and in Austria it is routinely used in hospitals.
This is also Dr. Sabová's dream: "I believe that one day you will find SCENAR in every doctor's office, and it will be the first thing your doctor applies to you - without medication, without pain, and with immediate results."
Children can train their immunity
In addition to diagnostics and therapy, the clinic also offers immunity training for children. How does it work?
"Groups of four children meet over the course of ten sessions with specialists in SCENAR and movement-somatic methods. The children train their bodies through playful exercises and their immunity through SCENAR application," explains the doctor.
The results are very positive. As one mother of a child who completed the training writes: "I would highlight above all the overall improvement in proprioception and coordination - smoother movement and, for example, improved handwriting as a result. What makes us especially happy, though, is a much greater openness to the world, less tendency to give up on failure - a willingness to try things repeatedly despite initial setbacks, and a gradually dissolving shyness."
The next training cycle begins in the new year 2026.
